Privacy policy
Your memories stay yours
LoveLapse turns the photos and videos you’ve marked as Favourites in Apple Photos into Moments, Reels, Stories and collages. All of that happens on your iPhone.
The short version
- Your photos, videos, favourites and memories are processed on your iPhone and are not uploaded to LoveLapse.
- LoveLapse has no account and no sign-up. We never learn your name or email address.
- No ads, no analytics, no tracking and no third-party SDKs.
- We don’t collect, sell or share your personal data.
Who we are
LoveLapse is made by Jaykumar Momaya (“we”, “us”). If you have a question about this policy, email support@jaymomaya.com.
What LoveLapse uses on your iPhone
LoveLapse asks for a permission only when you use a feature that needs it. You can change any of these at any time in Settings › LoveLapse.
| Permission | What it’s used for |
|---|---|
| Photos | Reads the photos and videos you’ve marked as Favourites, plus their date and any location already saved in them. You can give access to all photos or only the ones you choose. |
| Add to Photos | Saves the Reels, Stories and collages you choose to keep. This permission can only add new items. LoveLapse never edits or deletes anything in your library. |
| Notifications | Sends one reminder a week when your Sunday memory is ready. The reminder is created on your iPhone and may include a Moment’s name. |
LoveLapse doesn’t ask for your current location. Place names like “Lisbon” come from location info that’s already saved in your photos. The app looks them up on your iPhone in an offline list of towns (GeoNames, CC BY 4.0), so no coordinates are sent anywhere.
What’s kept on your iPhone
To stay fast, LoveLapse keeps this in its own storage on your iPhone:
- An index of your favourites: photo identifiers, dates, locations, place names and the Moments made from them. It can be rebuilt from Photos at any time.
- Your creations: the Reels, Stories and collages you make. They’re kept out of iCloud and device backups.
- Temporary previews: thumbnails that iOS may clear at any time.
- Your settings: things like Favourite Mode and whether reminders are on, plus your weekly progress and streak.
None of this is sent to us or to anyone else.
When your iPhone talks to Apple
LoveLapse doesn’t run its own servers or send any data to us. These Apple services may still use the network:
- iCloud Photos: if your originals are stored in iCloud, Photos may download them from Apple when LoveLapse needs them to make a creation.
- App Store: you download LoveLapse through Apple. It’s free and has no in-app purchases, so there are no payments for us to see.
- Crash reports: if you’ve turned on Share With App Developers in Settings › Privacy & Security › Analytics & Improvements, Apple may share anonymous crash and usage reports with us. You can turn this off at any time.
Apple’s handling of this data is covered by Apple’s Privacy Policy.
Sharing your creations
Nothing is shared unless you share it. When you tap Share…, your creation goes to the app or person you pick in the iOS share sheet, and that service’s own privacy policy applies from then on.
Deleting your data
- To delete a creation, touch and hold it in Made, then tap Delete. Copies you saved to Photos aren’t affected.
- To remove temporary previews, tap Clear in Made.
- To delete everything LoveLapse keeps, delete the app. Your Photos library is never changed.
Children
LoveLapse doesn’t collect personal data from anyone, including children.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, laws like the GDPR or the CCPA give you rights over your personal data. We don’t hold any personal data about you, so there’s nothing for us to access, correct, export or delete. You can still contact us with any privacy question, and we’ll reply.
Changes to this policy
If LoveLapse changes how it handles data, we’ll update this page and the effective date above before the change ships. If the app ever starts collecting data, this page and the App Store privacy details will say so first.
